Shopify Plus breakeven calculator
Shopify Plus is a roughly $1,900/mo jump from Advanced, so the only question that matters is when that jump pays for itself. It does once three savings add up to more than the extra plan cost: a lower per-sale transaction fee on sales outside Shopify Payments, the paid apps Plus bundles for free, and the staff seats it unlocks. Put your real numbers in and this finds the revenue at which the lines cross, the monthly delta, your 12-month savings and a one-line verdict. The math runs in your browser, nothing is stored.

What Plus would replace
Staff seats
Plus removes staff-account limits. We only count a dollar value if you set one, so this never inflates the result. Your current plan already covers the seats you need.

Verdict
At your $150,000 GMV, Plus costs ~$1,321/mo more than staying put. It begins to pay for itself above ~$645,375 of monthly GMV, so it is a stretch today and a clear win once you scale past that line.

Where the money is
| Monthly line | Your plan | On Plus | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan price | $399 | $2,300 | -$1,901 |
| Shopify transaction fee | $600 | $200 | +$400 |
| Apps Plus bundles (3) | $180 | $0 | +$180 |
| Net monthly | $1,179 | $2,500 | -$1,321 |
From your $600/mo transaction-fee bill at 0.60%, about $100,000 of your $150,000 GMV (67%) runs through a non-Shopify-Payments gateway. Repricing that same volume at the Plus 0.20% rate is what shrinks the transaction line. Card processing is identical on both plans, so it is left out of the comparison.

Talk to Shopify Plus
When the numbers above clear the bar, the next step is a real quote: Plus pricing is negotiated, and a sales conversation is the only way to lock your actual term, transaction rate and any migration credits. The button deep-links the Shopify Plus program.
This is an affiliate link to the Shopify Affiliate / Plus program (via Impact / Shopify Partners). We have not joined yet, so it is a clearly marked placeholder until we are accepted. The breakeven math is driven by your inputs, not by the link.

How the breakeven is built
Card processing is the same whether you are on Advanced or Plus, so it is left out of the comparison entirely. What actually changes is three things. First, the Shopify transaction fee: standard plans charge it on any sale that does not go through Shopify Payments (about 0.6% on Advanced), while Plus charges far less (around 0.2%, tiered down to roughly 0.15% at high volume). The tool reads your current monthly transaction-fee bill, divides it by your plan's rate to recover how much of your GMV runs through a third-party gateway, then reprices that exact volume at the Plus rate. That keeps the saving grounded in your real bill, not a guess.
Second, the apps Plus bundles. Checkout scripts and Functions, native B2B, Launchpad and expansion (multi) stores are paid add-ons on a standard plan and included on Plus, so each one you can drop is a fixed monthly saving. Third, staff seats: Plus removes the seat cap, and if a lower plan is blocking seats you need you can attach a monthly value to that. We default that value to zero so the result never inflates itself.
Because the per-sale saving grows in a straight line with revenue and the app and seat savings are fixed, there is a single GMV where the savings equal the extra plan cost. Below it Plus costs you money; above it Plus saves money, and the gap only widens as you grow. That crossover is the breakeven line on the chart, and the verdict turns it into one sentence: Plus saves you about X per month above Y of GMV.
When Plus does not break even on cost
If almost all of your sales already run through Shopify Payments, there is no transaction-fee gap to close, and unless the bundled apps and seats alone cover the plan jump, Plus will not pay for itself on cost at any volume. The tool says so plainly. At that point Plus is a features and operations decision, checkout control, B2B, multi-region, not a savings one, and that is a legitimate reason to upgrade too. This calculator just keeps the money question honest.
Who this is for
Store operators on Advanced weighing the Plus jump, agencies sizing a client migration, and founders who have been quoted a Plus price and want to sanity-check it against their own numbers before they sign. If you would rather keep an eye on competitor pricing and stock than your own platform tier, that is what Mue Watch Business does for you on a schedule.
Shopify Plus cost questions, answered
How much is Shopify Plus per month?
Shopify Plus starts around $2,300 a month on a standard contract, versus about $399 a month for the Advanced plan, so roughly a $1,900 a month jump. The calculator uses your real plan and bill, so you can set the exact figure you were quoted.
When does Shopify Plus pay for itself?
When three savings together beat the ~$1,900 a month plan jump: a lower per-sale transaction fee on sales outside Shopify Payments, the paid apps Plus bundles for free, and the staff seats it unlocks. Only the transaction-fee saving scales with revenue, so for a typical store the cost breakeven sits near $645,000 a month in GMV. The calculator finds the exact line for your numbers.
Is Shopify Plus worth it?
On cost alone, only above your breakeven GMV, and if most of your sales already run through Shopify Payments there may be no transaction-fee gap to close at all. Below that, Plus is a features decision (checkout control, native B2B, multi-region, higher API limits), not a savings one. The tool keeps the money question separate so you can judge the features on their own.
Shopify Plus vs Advanced: what actually changes the cost?
Card processing is the same on both, so it drops out. What changes is the Shopify transaction fee (about 0.6% on Advanced for non-Shopify-Payments sales versus roughly 0.2% on Plus), the apps Plus bundles for free, and the staff-seat cap. The calculator reprices your actual third-party-gateway volume at the Plus rate rather than guessing.
